Discount IVF Programs

What IVF Costs Should You Consider?

IVF can be a significant financial commitment, especially for families who hadn't anticipated needing fertility treatment. At CHR, we prioritize transparency, ensuring you understand exactly where your fertility treatment dollars are going. We also offer several income-based discount programs and military discounts to make IVF more accessible. While it may be tempting to choose an IVF center solely based on lower costs, opting for less intensive treatments (such as mini IVF) or a less experienced clinic can often lead to higher costs in the long run due to repeated cycles and potential delays in achieving pregnancy. Doing IVF right the first time with a qualified center can be more cost-effective and far less stressful.

When planning for IVF, consider the following:

  • Understand the Process: It's essential to familiarize yourself with the IVF process, including treatments like ICSI and PGS/PGT-A, as well as any related expenses such as supplements, prescriptions, or travel. At CHR, we assign each patient a personal clinical coordinator to guide you through these details.
  • Don't Look for a "Deal": Low-cost IVF cycles might exclude critical elements or have lower success rates, leading to higher overall costs when additional cycles are required. Always compare pricing with success rates in mind.
  • Insurance Coverage for IVF: Check with your insurance provider about what IVF-related costs are covered. In New York, diagnostic workups are covered by many plans, but not always by IVF itself. CHR provides itemized receipts for out-of-network insurance claims.
  • Scientific Evidence for Treatment: Some clinics may push for expensive add-ons with little scientific backing. At CHR, we only recommend treatments and tests that are supported by solid evidence, such as avoiding routine PGS/PGT-A, which adds costs without proven benefits.

When you come to the Center for Human Reproduction, know that you are not alone. Our specialists and billing team work together to help you understand IVF costs and make the best financial and clinical decisions. We also offer various discount programs to support patients in different financial situations.

Why Individualization is Crucial

CHR's David Barad, MD discusses why individualization is crucial in order to achieve the highest IVF success rates.

Income-based IVF Discount Programs

The CHR offers special discount IVF programs for patients who do not have insurance coverage. We may, on occasion, also offer access to free infertility medications. We strive to make the cost of IVF treatment affordable and accessible to everyone, while maintaining our high IVF success rates.

If you don’t have insurance coverage for IVF, and your place of residence is within the United States, CHR offers three special discounted IVF cycle rates. If any of these situations apply to you, see below for the appropriate category for discount details:

  • Uninsured and gross family income not over $50,000: One IVF cycle will cost $10,440
  • Uninsured and gross family income not over $75,000: One IVF cycle will cost $11,600
  • Uninsured and gross family income not over $100,000: One IVF cycle will cost $12,550

Please note that these discounted rates include only the basics of an IVF cycle and do not include extra services that may be required in certain IVF cycles. To be more specific, the following IVF services are included and excluded, respectively:

Included:

  • Pre-retrieval cycle monitoring with ultrasounds and bloods
  • Oocyte (egg) retrieval (excluding anesthesia costs)
  • Embryo transfer

Excluded:

  • All medications (we at times receive medications from pharmaceutical companies, which, if available, are offered to our patients free of charge)
  • All diagnostic pre-testing for female and male partner
  • All medical care required as consequences of unexpected medical complications, inclusive of hospital care
  • Anesthesia ($600.00 is paid to an independent anesthesiologist)
  • Special IVF add-on procedures, such as:
    • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
    • Assisted zona hatching (AZH)
    • Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD)
    • Gender selection
    • Cryopreservation (freezing) of embryos
    • Subsequent transfer of frozen/thawed embryos

Conditions:

In consideration of economic hardships, and in recognition of the considerable expenses of infertility treatments, CHR extends to uninsured patients these programs with the special discounted fee schedules described in the links above. Please note that this and any other discount programs we offer do not apply to patients from overseas. By accepting one of these discounted fee schedules, patients confirm that their annual gross income does not exceed the specified limits and that they have no insurance coverage and will not apply for reimbursement from any third party payer for services provided by CHR. In addition, as these discounted rates are not offered in the presence of insurance coverage, we will not provide an itemized billing, but a summary financial statement.

Other Discount Fertility Treatment Programs at CHR

CHR also offers a few other types of discount fertility treatment programs:

  • To active-duty military families, we offer IVF military discount.
  • Women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) who know they'll likely need more than one one IVF cycle to achieve a pregnancy may consider participating in our multiple IVF cycle program.
  • For women considering freezing their eggs in more than one cycles, multiple egg freezing cycle program reduces the cost of egg freezing greatly.
  • Patients who need egg donation but would like to reduce the cost of egg donation, EcoDEP, our frozen donor egg program, may be worth a consideration. EcoDEP offers fewer egg donors to choose from than fresh/standard egg donor program, at a lower cost.
