He was also for 20 years the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer, two years later renamed the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics (JARG). He is also worldwide recognized as a leading reproductive immunologist, and, indeed, was the first Vice-President of the American Society for Reproductive Immunology and the founding Editor-in-Chief of its journal, The American Journal of Reproductive Immunology (AJRM).

Dr. Gleicher grew up in Vienna, Austria, where he started his medical studies at the Medical University of Vienna - and currently holds an academic appointment as Professor (Adjunct) and completed his studies at Tel Aviv University Medical School in Israel. After a year of rotating internship in Tel-Aviv, he moved to New York City for a residency in obstetrics and gynecology, and a fellowship in reproductive immunology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Still a chief resident, he organized an international congress on reproductive immunology at Mount Sinai that led to the formation of the American Society of Reproductive Immunology. Upon graduation for residency, he was awarded the institution’s highly prestigious Dr. Solomon Silver Award in Clinical Medicine, “awarded annually to that younger member of The Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical center staff who best exemplifies the ability to apply the advances in research to the practice of clinical medicine,” – unique ability Dr. Gleicher has maintained throughout his career.

Immediately upon graduation from residency, Dr. Gleicher was appointed to the medical school faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine as an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and division director of the Division of Reproductive Immunology. Two years later, he moved to Chicago as Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Immunology/Microbiology at Rush Medical College, where he established the first IVF program in Chicago and the Midwest. He held these academic positions until his resignation for 10 years, at which point he started focusing on the Center for Human Reproduction, which he founded had founded in Chicago in 1981.

Since 1990, Dr. Gleicher has held a variety of academic professorial appointments at Chicago Medical School, New York University School of Medicine, and Yale University School of Medicine. He wasawarded the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art in 1991. Since 1999, he is President, Medical and Laboratory Director, as well as Chief Scientist at the Center for Human Reproduction in NYC and President of the not-for-profit Foundation for Reproductive Medicine. He is a Visiting Research Scientist at Rockefeller University in NYC and – as noted above – a Visiting Professor at the Medical University of Vienna, in Austria.

Dr. Gleicher has published close to 500 peer-reviewed scientific papers as well as hundreds of abstracts, and book chapters. He currently also still serves on the editorial boards of several medical journals. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and, among several more memberships, a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Assisted Reproduction (SART), the Endocrine Society, and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). In 2009 Dr. Gleicher was given the honor by the British Fertility Society to give the bi-annual Patrick Steptoe Memorial Lecture, an honor extended to pioneers in the IVF field.

Dr. Gleicher speaks English, German, Hebrew, and Polish.

Dr. Gleicher is renowned for his expertise in reproductive endocrinology and immunology with a focus on treating infertility and autoimmune diseases. As the founder and medical director of the Center for Human Reproduction, he has spearheaded several research initiatives and published hundreds of scientific papers, advancing the understanding of reproductive health. His work has earned him a place on editorial boards for several leading journals, including the International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, RBMOnline, the Asian Pacific Journal of Reproduction, Endocrine, the Journal of Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology, the Journal of Translational Medicine, Clinical and Translational Medicine, and The Journal of IVF-Worldwide. He has been recognized as a top physician by both Chicago Magazine and The New York Times Magazine. Dr. Gleicher continues to be a leading figure in his field, driving innovation and excellence in reproductive medicine.

We are writing this letter of gratitude for Dr Norbert Gleicher and the entire staff at Center for Human Reproduction. My wife and I are so very thankful that we listened to Dr Gleicher's advice back on October 1st,2021 during a consultation he advised us to not allow our fertilized eggs to be discarded and killed. Our two eggs were tested and declared to be irregular by another IVF lab. We kept the eggs frozen and after 4 more failed IVF cycles came to Dr Gleicher for another try. We asked Dr Gleicher if it was worth a try to have eggs transferred into my wife and he studied the data and approved of the procedure. On February 7th,2024 we had 2 frozen eggs transferred and waited for the results. Finally later in February after the 13 day wait we were advised of blood test that confirmed that we were pregnant with an xx embryo from the transfer.XX is a girl and a huge feeling warmth and happiness overwhelmed both of us. We had several ultrasounds during the 4-5 weeks following and all were very positive with strong heartbeat and great growth, Today my wife is approaching her 18th week pregnant and all is going great with the development and follow up visits. Our baby is growing by the day and we look forward to our 20 week ultrasound for further development rate. If we had not discussed and listened to Dr Gleicher back in 2021 we would never have been so far with a pregnancy. The entire staff is wonderful and Hui Na was very helpful and communicative through the entire process with my wife. Please accept our sincere thank you and heartfelt praise for the team. Our baby is due around Oct 26th,2024 and we intend to vist to say thanks in person,we will make the trip from our home in Florida. Blessings to all.

M.C. Office Visit

Dr. Gleicher was nearly 30 minutes late to our consultation, but that's not necessarily anything new when it comes to doctors' offices. I was a little surprised that he went through our entire intake questionnaire with us, despite having sent an initial report based off of it, but appreciated his thoroughness and willingness not to rush us. He spent over an hour on the consult. He also was unwilling to jump to conclusions about our diagnosis, and asked for multiple additional tests, further demonstrating his commitment to careful, individualized care.

J.W. Office Visit

Dr Gleicher is a king, he is on the highest level of experience and knowledge. I met some IVF doctors before and no one came even close to his professionalism and wisdom. This generation of doctors are the real doctors, that know IVF inside out. And fight for their patients and not treat them like numbers like most others in that industry. They want the best outcome and actually investigate your issue based on their vast knowledge, almost like a detective. I am so thankful I met him.

J.S. Office Visit
